HOTEL IBIS-A HAVEN OF COMFORT

The crowd at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, was bustling with life as everyone was trying to locate their loved ones. The noise from the background was producing a music of its own. A tall man could be seen among the crowd, pulling his trolley, taking a brief moment to catch his breath. He seems to be scanning the whole area of the airport taking in the view of the area like a peacock. This was definitely his first time in Lagos.

"Excuse me sir, are you Mr. Bill David”? A male voice cut through his through his thought. He stared at the smartly dressed man in a uniform and nodded It turned out it was a shuttle service provided by the hotel his Nigerian friend booked for him on Hotels.ng at page one. The drive to the hotel was approximately ten minutes. The gigantic building that greeted his sight on entrance  was impressive.

“Welcome to Ibis hotel” the warmth in the voice of the receptionist at the hotel could not go unnoticed. He was checked in immediately and his luggage was carried to his room by one of the hotel staffs.
He could not hide the shock on his face at the sight of his room. It was almost dreamy. The room was well furnished with an air conditioner, soft and clean beddings, a coffee machine, an LCD screen TV and a free Wi-Fi. He had a lovely shower. The activity he hoped to achieve for the next day flashed through his mind. He had come for the conference on “Project Earth” – a conference targeted on birthing solutions to the emerging environmental problems especially global warming with a view to achieving sustainable development. He soon passed on to dream land.

The next day, the hotel’s conference center was filled with a lot of people from all walks of life. International and national dishes were on full display. Words began to fly from one end of the room to another with each person proposing the possible solutions.  Finally, a concensus was reached as regard the solution.
Subsequently, phone contact, emails and business cards were being exchanged-it was a time for networking.

Later in the evening, he went to the hotel’s restaurant. He ordered a popular Mexican dish-Chillaquiles. Immediately he tasted it, he was transported back in time to when he was a young boy. It tasted exactly like his late Mexican mother’s food. He was nostalgic in a good way. He dug into the food like it would bring back his mother.

He met with a beautiful lady as  he relaxed by the swimming pool. The way their eyes locked and the spark he felt when they talked was almost magical. They exchanged contact. It knew it represented something more. Time, would unveil it.

He knew he would be leaving tomorrow morning to England but he won’t forget quickly the warmth and magic he felt at this grand and majestic hotel- Hotel Ibis
